Three wishes: a sturdy she-camel and a saddle,
Three fateful events, aching grief and blindness,
and a road now clear—shall we set out at dawn?
And a path that has become clear, so is there any dawn?

And some people in this world are like birds,
And some people in this world are like birds,
too proud for nests to suit them.
Their beaks are too delicate for blindness.

Males with no females of their own—but
Males without females, but
their mates are keen-edged swords of Indian steel.
Their effeminate companions are males.
عَرَفتُكُمُI have known you بَنيsons of حَوّاءَEve قِدماًlong ago
فَكُلُّكُمُso each of you أَخوa possessor of ضِغنٍrancor مَكورُfull of guile
I have long known you, sons of Eve:
I have long known you, o sons of Eve,
so each of you harbors rancor and is full of guile.
You are all the brothers of an ungrateful complainer.
وَماand not فيكُمamong you عَلىfor الإِحسانِkindness جازٍone who repays
وَلاnor مِنكُمamong you عَلىfor النُعمىa favor شَكورُgrateful
And none among you repays kindness,
And none of you rewards good deeds,
nor is any of you grateful for a favor.
Nor is any among you grateful for blessings.
