Khansa came to Mecca like the Pleiades,

and left her two Farqad stars back home.

Had she prayed in her home and fasted,

she would have found what she sought close at hand.

But she came to cast stones at the Jamarat,

while the eyes of the wayward were on her hands.

Neither Muhammad, for what she has done,

    nor God Almighty commends her.

If ever a young woman seeks to pray,

there, it is thought, is the better of her two graves.
