Be patient, for where pebbles are scorned,
Patience, for from the place where pebbles are disgraced
pearls are honored in their midst.
Pearls are honored in their settings
نَحنُwe عَبيدُslaves اللَهِGod فيon أَرضِهِHis earth

وَأَعوَزَ المُستَعبَدَ الحُرُّ
We are God's slaves upon His earth,
We are Allah's servants in His land
and the enslaved can find no free man.
Yet the free are more needy than the enslaved

يُماطُ عَنّا البُؤسُ وَالضُرُّ
Through our Master's grace and His kindness,
By the grace of our Master and His kindness
misery and affliction are lifted from us.
Distress and harm are wiped from us

Does man not see within himself
Does not man see in himself
signs of a Lord, all radiant?
Signs of a Lord, all wonders

In his mouth is sweetness, and in his eye
In his mouth, sweet, and in his eye
salt, and in his ear, bitterness.
Salt, and in his hearing, bitter

Our dead will return to the Gathering if
Our death repulses us to the Resurrection if
their Maker says to them, 'Return!'
Their Creator says to them "Return"

كَأَنَّنا السُنبُلُ وَالبُرُّ
A later one among us succeeds an earlier one,
One after another we pass
as though we were ears of grain and wheat.
As if we are wheat and graves

And a mudd suffices you, yet it is in
And time is enough for you, but in
your nature to have a kurr stored away.
Your nature is to hoard worries

Your sons, O world, are heedless;
Your children, O world, on a whim
were they not beguiled by you, they would not rejoice.
If they were not fooled by you, they would not be joyous

Such are the decrees - so for him is
summer heat, and that one of bitter cold.
Scorching heat, and for him is chill
