If she climbs onto her rooftop and you see her

one day speaking to her neighbor in secret,

then hasten to divorce her outright and forsake intimacy with her,

and say, “That is a sturdy she-camel whose hobble a herdsman has untied.”

And if she quarrels over a son of hers or a daughter

dear to her, be gentle with her and leave off quarreling with her.

If one day you wish to marry a freeborn woman

from among the people, choose her kin and lineage well.

For among them is one who gives her husband profit,

and among them is one who informs her traders of loss.
