Abīda said to the ibexes in secret:

You will perish by God's decree; then I shall perish.

Nor do I claim invulnerability for the two Farqad stars,

nor for Naʿsh's family, as Labīd did.

And many a wrongdoer savors honey as though he were

a male ostrich fed by colocynth seeds in the wilderness.

And many a dusky sandgrouse has perished, and a rock pool was left behind,

and many a wild she-ass whose pastures are deserts without her.

For indeed, ʿAbīd, Hind's son, and Tubbaʿ,

and Kisrā's family are slaves to the Sovereign.
