وَقَعنا في الحَياةِ بِلا اِختِيارٍ

وَخالِقُنا يُعَجِّلُ بِالخَلاصِ

We fell into life without a choice,

We fell into life without a choice,

and our Creator hastens us toward deliverance.

and our Creator hastens our release.

رَكِبنا فَوقَ أَكتادِ اللَيالي

رَكِبنا فَوقَ أَكتادِ اللَيالي

فَواهاً ما أَخَبَّكِ مِن قِلاصِ

فَواهاً ما أَخَبَّكِ مِن قِلاصِ

We mounted upon the withers of the nights—

We rode atop the withers of the nights—

ah, what fleet-trotting young she-camels you are!

ah, how swiftly you trot, you young she-camels!

وَنَبلُ الدَهرِ تَنفُذُ كُلَّ تُرسٍ

وَنَبلُ الدَهرِ تَنفُذُ كُلَّ تُرسٍ

وَتَسلُكُ بَّينَ أَثناءِ الدِلاصِ

وَتَسلُكُ بَّينَ أَثناءِ الدِلاصِ

Time’s arrows pierce every shield

And Time's arrows pierce every shield,

and pass through the folds of polished mail.

and pass between the folds of gleaming armor.

فَهَوِّن ما أُتيحَ مِنَ الرَزايا

فَهَوِّن ما أُتيحَ مِنَ الرَزايا

وَما لاقَيتَ مِن لُصٍّ وَلاصِ

وَما لاقَيتَ مِن لُصٍّ وَلاصِ

So make light of whatever afflictions befall you,

So take lightly whatever calamities are allotted to you,

and whatever you meet from thief or marauder.

and whatever you have faced at the hands of thief and robber.
