وَإِنَّand indeed المُدامَwine بِماءٍwith water تُشَجّis diluted
The sons of Adam have their heads gashed by rocks,
And wine, indeed, is cut with water.
فَماso not نَزَلَdescended اليُمنُgood fortune فيin شَربِهاdrinking it
وَلاnor فيin وِعاءِa vessel of سُلافٍchoice wine نَشَجgurgled
So no good fortune has come with drinking it,
Nor to a gurgling vessel of choice wine.
