A young man may make the pilgrimage and find contentment in a wife,

yet remain a stranger to a purse of silver.

Bags of money are like the full moon in the darkness, which is

    effaced after reaching fullness, inevitably.

An argument, if you advance it on a weak person's behalf,

is a pilgrimage whose duties are righteously fulfilled.

O man, you are only like an

ant, going forth, drawn toward a grain of wheat.

God sends forth, by day and by night,

blessings from His provision, poured forth in abundance.

It is not the garment of piety that people wear,

    but clothes buttoned over indecency.

Warm, by thrusting between the collarbones

and the bowels, the chilled spearheads.

Death may be met in the broad light of

day by souls rejoicing in their morning.

And they see the truth shine forth, and realize

that in their lives they were deluded.
