تَهَجَّدَkept prayerful vigil مَعشَرٌa company لَيلاًat night وَنُمناand we slept
تَهَجَّدَ مَعشَرٌ لَيلاً وَنُمنا
وَفازَand triumphed بِحِندِسٍin deep darkness مُتَهَجِّدوهُthose keeping vigil through it
وَفازَ بِحِندِسٍ مُتَهَجِّدوهُ
A company kept prayerful vigil at night, and we slept.
A group stayed up late at night while we slept
And in deep darkness, those who kept vigil through it triumphed.
And won a race against those who stayed up
إِلَهُكَyour God أَوجَدَbrought into being الأَشياءَthe things جَمعاًall together
إِلَهُكَ أَوجَدَ الأَشياءَ جَمعاً
فَلاso let not يَفخَرboast بِشَيءٍof a thing موجِدوهُits makers
فَلا يَفخَر بِشَيءٍ موجِدوهُ
Your God brought all things into being;
Your God created all things together
so let those who make a thing not boast of it.
So none can boast of being its creator
وَرَبُكَand your Lord أَنجَدَaided الأَقوامَthe peoples حَتّىuntil
وَرَبُكَ أَنجَدَ الأَقوامَ حَتّى
بَنىbuilt أَعلىthe loftiest of القُصورِpalaces مُنَجِّدوهُits decorators
بَنى أَعلى القُصورِ مُنَجِّدوهُ
And your Lord aided the peoples until
And your Lord helped people until
the loftiest of palaces was built by those who adorned it.
Those he helped built the highest palaces
فَمَجِّدهُso glorify Him فَلَمfor not يَخسَرsuffer loss أُناسٌpeople
فَمَجِّدهُ فَلَم يَخسَر أُناسٌ
أَنابواturned back لِلمَليكِto the Sovereign وَمَجِّدوهُand glorify Him
أَنابوا لِلمَليكِ وَمَجِّدوهُ
So glorify Him, for no people suffered loss
So glorify Him, for no people lost
who turned back to the Sovereign; and glorify Him.
Who turned to the King and glorified Him
