غَدَتhas come to be مِنfrom تَميمٍTamim أُسرَةٌa clan فَوقَabove أَرضِهاits land
وَحاجِبُهاand its Hajib تَحتَbeneath الثَرىthe soil وَلَقيطُهاand its Laqit
A clan of Tamim now dwells upon its land,
A family from Tameem became captive above their land
while its Hajib lies beneath the soil, and its Laqit.
While their eyebrows are beneath the soil and their newborns
لَعَمريby my life لَقَدindeed أَضحَتhave become فَوارِسُhorsemen مِنهُمُfrom among them
كَأَنas though لَمnot يَكُنhad existed مُروَّتُهاits Murawwat وَوَقيطُهاand its Waqit
By my life, horsemen among them have indeed become
By my life, their horsemen have become
as though its Murawwat and Waqit had never existed.
As if their chivalry and protection were never there
فَقَدfor indeed بُدِّلواthey were given in exchange أَجداثَهُمtheir graves مِنin place of سُروجِهِمtheir saddles
فَأَنبَتَso brought forth رَوضاًa meadow طَلُّهاits light rain وَسَقيطُهاand its dewfall
For they have been given their graves in place of their saddles,
They exchanged their weapons for their saddles
so its light rain and dewfall brought forth a meadow.
Thus blossoming the meadow they grazed and watered
