تَوَرَّعوا يا بَني حَوّاءَ عَن كَذِبٍ

تَوَرَّعوا يا بَني حَوّاءَ عَن كَذِبٍ

فَما لَكُم عِندَ رَبٍّ صاغَكُم خَطَرُ

فَما لَكُم عِندَ رَبٍّ صاغَكُم خَطَرُ

Refrain from lying, O children of Eve.

Refrain from lying, O children of Eve;

What worth have you before a Lord who fashioned you?

for you have no importance before a Lord who fashioned you.

لَم تُجدِبوا لِقَبيحٍ مِن فِعالِكُمُ

لَم تُجدِبوا لِقَبيحٍ مِن فِعالِكُمُ

وَلَم يَجِئكُم لِحُسنِ التَوبَةِ المَطَرُ

وَلَم يَجِئكُم لِحُسنِ التَوبَةِ المَطَرُ

You never ran dry of any vile deed among your acts,

You did not suffer drought because of any evil deed of yours,

yet for the beauty of repentance, no rain ever came.

nor did rain come to you because of the goodness of repentance.
