    God is beyond doubt, and He is veiled,

    Yet manifest; and each has drawn Him toward his own nature.

    The living are like their brothers among the dead; so think

    Little of armored warriors, though they lengthen their dusky spears and streamers.

    The colocynth knows not what imparted its bitterness

    To it; nor is honey aware, though it has grown sweet.

    مَن اِدَّعى أَنَّهُ دارٍ فَقَد كَذِبا

    You asked me, but answering you baffled me;

    Whoever claims that he knows has indeed lied.
