إِذا ما بيعَةٌ زيرَت لِغَيٍّ

إِذا ما بيعَةٌ زيرَت لِغَيٍّ

فَأَعطِ لِهَجرِها أَيمانَ بَيعَه

فَأَعطِ لِهَجرِها أَيمانَ بَيعَه

If ever a church is visited for wrongdoing,

Then give your sworn pledge to forsake it.

وَلا تَجعَلكَ لِلأَيّامِ كَلباً

وَلا تَجعَلكَ لِلأَيّامِ كَلباً

ظِباءٌ مِن ذُؤَيبَةَ أَو سُبَيعَه

ظِباءٌ مِن ذُؤَيبَةَ أَو سُبَيعَه

And do not let yourself be made the days’ dog

By gazelles from Dhuʾaybah or Subayʿah.

فَإِنَّ الدَهرَ يَنقُلُ كُلَّ حالٍ

فَإِنَّ الدَهرَ يَنقُلُ كُلَّ حالٍ

كَما نَقَلَ الحُكومَةَ مِن ضُبَيعَه

كَما نَقَلَ الحُكومَةَ مِن ضُبَيعَه

For indeed time changes every state,

As it transferred judicial authority from Ḍubayʿah.
