The Jews hope that the Messiah will come,

and hope that time will turn Jewish.

And how can covenants be honored for them,

after they have disregarded the covenants?

And all they have are claims,

until they produce witnesses to support them.

Out of ignorance, they and their elders have become

like infants who have made cradles their home.

And my house is not on the hills,

but I am fond only of the lowlands.
