O Umm Dafr—Mother of Stench—if you left humankind,
O mother of Dafar, if only you had departed from this world
they would smash a jug—even those of Dabba's clan.
They would have broken even the cups of Ali Dabba's family
إِنّيindeed I ذَمَمتُكِI reviled you فَاِشهُريso unsheathe your sword أَوor أَشرِعيlevel your spear
لاnot أَرهَبُI fear المَعمودَthe upraised weapon وَالمَركوزاand the planted spear
Indeed, I have reviled you; so draw your sword or level your spear.
I have had enough of you, so bare yourself or set sail
I fear neither the upraised weapon nor the planted spear.
I do not fear the baptized or the crucified
عِشتُI lived السَليمَthe snake-bitten one, euphemistically 'sound' وَماand not عَنَيتُI meant سَلامَةًsoundness; safety
لَكِنbut بِسَمَّكِby your venom مُرهَقاًafflicted مَنكوزاbitten; stung
I lived as the 'sound' one—and I did not mean soundness—
I lived well and did not care for well-being
but afflicted and bitten by your venom.
But your ill-omen burdened me, bent over
موسىMoses بَعَثتِyou sent لِكُلِّto every حَيٍّliving being مُعضَباًenraged

You sent Moses, enraged, to every living being,
You sent Moses to be the bane of every living being
so he swiftly finished him off with a blow of his fist.
So he destroyed them in haste, hammered down
