إِنif كانَwas مَنone who فَعَلَcommitted الكَبائِرَgrave sins مُجبَراًcompelled
فَعِقابُهُthen his punishment ظُلمٌinjustice عَلىfor ماwhat يَفعَلُhe does
If one who commits grave sins is compelled,
If he who commits grave sins is compelled,
then punishing him for what he does is unjust.
Then punishing him is injustice for what he does.
وَاللَهُand God إِذwhen خَلَقَHe created المَعادِنَthe metals عالِمٌknowing
أَنَّthat الحِدادَthe sharp blades البيضَthe white ones مِنهاfrom them تُجعَلُare fashioned
And God, when He created the metals, knew
And God, being All-Knowing when He created ores
that sharp, white blades would be fashioned from them.
Knew that white iron would be made into swords -

Men shed blood with them, seeking protection
With them, men protected themselves, taming horses
through horses bridled with iron and shod.
That are shod and outfitted with iron.
لاdo not تُمسِbecome فيin نارِfire الضَميرِthe inner self فَراشَةًa moth
فَضَغائِنُfor the grudges الصَدرِof the breast الحَريقُthe blaze المُشعَلُkindled
Do not become a moth in the fire within,
Do not disturb in the fire of conscience a butterfly,
for grudges in the breast are a kindled blaze.
For hearts filled with hatred are blazing flames.
