أَجمَلُmore fitting بيfor me مِنthan أَنto أُعَدَّbe counted اِمرِأًa man
أَجمَلُ بي مِن أَن أُعَدَّ اِمرِأً
أَوfirst fragment of أَوذيكَ: I harm you ذيكَremaining fragment of أَوذيكَ: I harm you فيamong أَهلِكَyour kin أَنthat أَهلِكاI perish
أَو ذيكَ في أَهلِكَ أَن أَهلِكا
More fitting for me than to be counted a man
It's more beautiful for me than to count a man
who harms you among your kin is that I should perish.
Or ruin those who are your kin
ماwhat لَكَis with you تَستَجهِلُنيyou deem me ignorant دائِماًalways
ما لَكَ تَستَجهِلُني دائِماً
وَإِنَّماand only ذَلِكَthat مِنfrom جَهلِكاyour ignorance
وَإِنَّما ذَلِكَ مِن جَهلِكا
Why do you always deem me ignorant?
Why do you always treat me like a fool?
And that is only due to your ignorance.
That is only because of your ignorance
وَكُنتَand you were فيin سَيرِكَyour journey مُستَعجِلاًin haste
وَكُنتَ في سَيرِكَ مُستَعجِلاً
فَالآنَso now سُيِّرتَyou have been made to travel عَلىat مَهلِكاyour leisure
فَالآنَ سُيِّرتَ عَلى مَهلِكا
And you were hurrying on your journey;
You used to hurry in your conduct
so now you have been made to travel at your leisure.
Now you are left to your ruin
