فَأَكونَ شارِبَ حَنظَلٍ مِن حَنضَلِ
I swore not to covet a deceiver's shirt,
I wish I could wear a striped shirt
lest I drink colocynth from Ḥanḍal.
So I may drink bitter coffee made tolerable

رَبٌّa Lord يُفَرِّجُeases كُلَّevery أَمرٍmatter مُعضِلِdifficult
رَبٌّ يُفَرِّجُ كُلَّ أَمرٍ مُعضِلِ
The people were saved from Ṣāliḥ's claws
Almighty God relieved the companions
by a Lord who eases every difficult matter.
From the distress of the righteous man
ماnot كانَthere was ليfor me فيهاin it جَناحُa wing of بَعوضَةٍa mosquito
ما كانَ لي فيها جَناحُ بَعوضَةٍ
وَاللَهُand God أَلبَسَهُمclothed them جَناحَa wing of تَفَضُّلِgrace
وَاللَهُ أَلبَسَهُم جَناحَ تَفَضُّلِ
I had not even a mosquito's wing in it,
I had no role in this matter
and God clothed them in a wing of grace.
But God blessed them with His kindness
