The children of Adam are fair to behold,
A pleasing sight for people,
yet none of them is sweet to the taste.
Yet in taste, none wholesome.
ماnot فيهُمُamong them بَرٌّa righteous man وَلاnor ناسِكٌan ascetic

There is no righteous man or ascetic among them
No virtuous or ascetic among them
who does not seek some gain for himself.
Except drawn by self-gain.
أَفضَلُbetter مِنthan أَفضَلِهِمthe best of them صَخَرَةٌa rock
لاnot تَظلِمُit wrongs الناسَpeople وَلاnor تَكذِبُit lies
A rock is better than the best of them:
Better than the best of them, a rock
it neither wrongs people nor lies.
That wrongs no one, nor lies.
