لَناfor us أَرَبٌa need لَمnot نَقضِهِwe fulfill it مِنكَfrom you فَاِدَّكِرso remember
لَكَfor you الخَيرُgoodness هَلis there? بَعدَafter الحِمامِdeath تَلاقِa reunion
We have a need of you still unmet; so remember.
We have a debt to you we have not yet paid, so be reminded
May good be yours! Is there reunion after death?
Goodness to you, after estrangement will we meet?
أَرىI see أُمَّMother of دَفرٍStench أَخلَقَتنيshe has worn me out وَجُزتُهاand I passed beyond her
إِلىto غَيرِهاother than her سَيراًjourneying بِغَيرِwithout خَلاقِa share of good
I see that Umm Dafr—Mother of Stench—has worn me out, and I have passed beyond her
I see Umm Dafr, who raised me and I rewarded her
to another, journeying without a share of good.
By leaving for another without any qualm
سَتَأخُذُshe will take إِرثيmy estate وَهِيَand she فيin غَيرِno عِدَّةٍa marital waiting period
وَمُذand since زَمَنٍsome time جَهَّزتُهاI furnished her بِطَلاقِwith a divorce
She will take my estate, though she is in no waiting period,
She will take my inheritance though not in waiting period
and some time ago I furnished her with a divorce.
And long ago I divorced her in separation
