    A grave, in whose burial niche I give rest and find rest,

    Is better than the palace in which I suffer harm.

    And I was true to this life in my love for it,

    Yet it deceived me with its guile and its lies.

    فَالآنَ أَخشى البَتُّ عِندَ جِذابِهِ

    And I tugged at the tightly twisted strand of life's rope;

    So now I fear its severing when I tug at it.

    And I shall surely drink death's cups,

    From its solid form to its melted form.

    Sweet is staying alive, yet it torments me; and death has

    A day that frees me from life's many forms of torment.
