If wealth makes you poorer and more in need

of those who amass it, then riches are poverty.

Have you not seen that a king cannot remain

ruling his kingdom without his army weighing upon him?

A dove follows the traces of the meadows,

and, in her pursuits, pecking delights her.

She means to take flight, then turns back out of desire,

and she noticed nothing until a falcon came upon her.

Yet her mother had told her yesterday of its evil,

and that death roams the place she roams.

And whoever meets his doom one day—blindness oppresses his eyes,

with weakness in his mind and deafness in his hearing.
