ما يُعرَفُ اليَومَ مِن عادٍ وَشيعَتِها

ما يُعرَفُ اليَومَ مِن عادٍ وَشيعَتِها

وَآلِ جُرهُمَ لا بَطنٌ وَلا فَخِذُ

وَآلِ جُرهُمَ لا بَطنٌ وَلا فَخِذُ

Today none is known of ʿĀd and its followers,

What is known today of the tribe of Aad and their followers

Nor of the house of Jurhum—neither clan nor subclan.

And the progeny of Jurhum, neither womb nor thigh

أَطارَهُم شيمَةَ العَنقاءِ دَهرُهُمُ

أَطارَهُم شيمَةَ العَنقاءِ دَهرُهُمُ

فَلَيسَ يَعلَمُ خَلقٌ آيَةً أَخَذوا

فَلَيسَ يَعلَمُ خَلقٌ آيَةً أَخَذوا

Their time sent them flying, in the phoenix’s manner,

Time has scattered them by the virtue of the she-camel

So no creature knows which way they went.

So no people know which sign they have taken
