مَصائِبُcalamities هَذِهِthis الدُنِّياthe world كَثيرَةٌmany
مَصائِبُ هَذِهِ الدُنِّيا كَثيرَةٌ
وَأَيسَرُهاand the easiest of them عَلىfor الفَطينِthe discerning person الحِمامُdeath
وَأَيسَرُها عَلى الفَطينِ الحِمامُ
The calamities of this world are many,
The misfortunes of this life are many,
And the easiest of them for the discerning is death.
Yet the easiest for the wise to bear is love.
مُصابٌan affliction لاnot تُنَزَّهُis spared عَنهُfrom it نَفسٌa soul
مُصابٌ لا تُنَزَّهُ عَنهُ نَفسٌ
وَلاand not يُقضىis fulfilled بِمَدفَعِهِby warding it off الذِمامُthe pledge of protection
وَلا يُقضى بِمَدفَعِهِ الذِمامُ
An affliction from which no soul is spared,
It is an affliction from which no soul is safe,
Nor can a pledge of protection be honored by warding it off.
Nor can payment dispel it.
