Chaste—no disgrace, when she displays her beauty,
A mare is no disgrace if she struts proudly
Falls upon her when she openly casts off her clothes.
When she freely casts off her garments

She never denied a lover a sip of her teeth's dew,
So she did not prevent her passionate lover
And none but the bold has sipped her saliva.
Nor did she deny him the rewards of boldness

For the zealous, nor any fault to reproach her

Every worshipper may kiss her among mankind
And swallows her dye from the expanse of her cheeks.
And color his cheeks with the dye of hers

A maiden, she has remained round-breasted throughout the ages;
A girl who has remained throughout time as lovely
And the nights' vicissitudes have not worn away her youth.
As the nights of youth left her still in her prime

Hers is the majesty of the great, apart from being kissed;
She has the awe of the great with no need to kiss her
When a man of majesty sees her, he stands in awe of her.
All who behold her are filled with reverence for her

Her gaze brought no one sadness unless it wept
And she never crossed the heart without its answering her.
And no thought stirred her heart to answer it

When she cast her coverings away from all else [wording uncertain].
When she casts off all but it from her mantle

Beauty's radiance clothes her, dispensing with jewels,
The splendor of her beauty serves her as adornment
As though jewels, were they to adorn her, would insult her.
As if jewelry would only detract were it added

Yet the cloud of pardon has become her cloud.

The burdensome sins drift away as her dust.
Their heavy burdens of guilt float away like dust

I rode the steed of elegy to reach her
Urged its camels onward with my praise or my love-song.
Urging it on with my praise or lineage

In a land where not even the wolf was safe
With its own life, for its journey had made it uneasy.
As it feared for itself from her stillness

Deadly wastes, where no quick access to a watering place is found,
No path leads to her but sunbeams
Save the sun, which has spewed its saliva upon them.
That have softened their fire in homage to her

The morning, night-traveling clouds' drink had arrived.

Exhausted, who has let its lashes fall upon the earth.
Having cast their veils down upon her

Having filled her valleys with their echoing song
