عتَبتُمyou reproached عَلىfor بيضِthe gleaming السُيوفِswords وَأَصبَحَتand now became
عتَبتُم عَلى بيضِ السُيوفِ وَأَصبَحَت
رِقابُnecks عِداكُمyour enemies بِالعَزائِمِby firm resolve تُضرَبُare struck
رِقابُ عِداكُم بِالعَزائِمِ تُضرَبُ
You reproached the gleaming swords, and now
You blamed the whiteness of swords, while
Your enemies’ necks are struck by firm resolve.
The necks of your enemies are struck by resolves.
عَرَفتَyou have known وَلائيmy loyalty فيtoward أَبيكَyour father وَإِنَّهُand indeed it
عَرَفتَ وَلائي في أَبيكَ وَإِنَّهُ
مِنَthan النَسَبِkinship الزاكيnoble أَحَقُّmore deserving وَأَقرَبُand closer
مِنَ النَسَبِ الزاكي أَحَقُّ وَأَقرَبُ
You have known my loyalty to your father, and indeed it
You knew my loyalty to your father, and he
Has a stronger claim and is closer than noble kinship.
Is the most deserving and closest of pure lineage.
