What a day has risen above all days!
What day excelled over days?

The sword in your right hand was no novelty—
Your sword was not seen idle in your right hand,
have they seen anything but lightning in a cloud?
Did they see other than lightning in the clouds?

O you who put the wakeful to sleep with deadly violence
O you who rouse the slumbering with killing,
that steals sleep from the eyes of sleepers!
Robbing the eyes of the sleepy of sleep.

You gave him nothing beyond sleep, except
Naught increased him over sleep except
joining that sleep thereafter to eternity.
The connection of sleep after it continually.

أَم سَقاهُ المَقدورُ كَأسَ حِمامِ
Do you think he was given a cup of sleeping draught,
Do you see the cup of the sleeper who he gave drink
or did fate give him a cup of death?
Or did the determined give him the cup of oblivion?

And when God's hand shoots an arrow,
And if the hand of God cast an arrow,
the coat of mail becomes one of the arrows.
The coat of mail became the likes of arrows.

A blow from your hands was single;
A blow from your hands was alone,
it split him in two, then withdrew leaving twins.
Its excess overflowed from perfection.

And the sword claimed that it had not done it;
And the sword claimed that it did not produce it
so we accepted, for it was not bloodstained.
So we accepted that it was not lasting.

And by my life, swords when they
they grow angry, are made to forget old bonds of honor.
Become angry, forget old flaws.

We do not say, 'The noble pardon and are pardoned,'
We the generous do not say, pardon and be pardoned
for slaying the noble is part of the noble's generosity.
For the generosity of the generous, the killing of the generous.

for this reason I do not call you the full moon.
So I do not say full moon of perfection.
