ما كانَ يَكمُلُ حُرَّ ذا الد

ما كانَ يَكمُلُ حُرَّ ذا الد

ديوانِ حَتّى اِزدادَ قُبَّه

ديوانِ حَتّى اِزدادَ قُبَّه

The heat had not reached its full measure in this

The free man’s poem was not complete

hall until it gained a dome.

Until his mantle grew in size

فَكَأَنَّني فيهِ خَرو

فَكَأَنَّني فيهِ خَرو

ف شوىً وَمِن فَوقي مِكَبَّه

ف شوىً وَمِن فَوقي مِكَبَّه

So, inside it, I am like a lamb,

So it seems I stumbled in it

roasted, with a cover above me.

And over me lies its dome
