صَديقُناour friend قُبِّحَmay he be disgraced مِنas a صَديقِfriend
صَديقُنا قُبِّحَ مِن صَديقِ
مُيَسِّرِmaking easy الأَخلاقِthe character لِلعُقوقِfor disloyalty
مُيَسِّرِ الأَخلاقِ لِلعُقوقِ
Our friend—cursed be such a friend—
Our friend was blamed by a friend
Whose manners make disloyalty easy,
Who facilitates manners for disobedience
وَقاعِدِand sitting العِرضِthe honor عَلىupon الطَريقِthe road
وَقاعِدِ العِرضِ عَلى الطَريقِ
سَوادُهُhis blackness وَالشَبُand the alum فيin التَحقيقِtruth
سَوادُهُ وَالشَبُ في التَحقيقِ
And whose honor sits upon the road;
And sits to insult people on the path
His blackness and the alum are, in truth,
His blackness and youth are in reality
تَمَرُّغُrolling about الفارَةِthe mouse فيin الدَقيقِthe flour
تَمَرُّغُ الفارَةِ في الدَقيقِ
Like a mouse rolling in flour.
