أَملَى عَلَيَّ مَديحَكَ الإِحسانُ

أَملَى عَلَيَّ مَديحَكَ الإِحسانُ

وَيَدُ الكَريمِ لَهُ يَدٌ وَلِسانُ

وَيَدُ الكَريمِ لَهُ يَدٌ وَلِسانُ

Kindness dictated my praise of you.

Goodness inspired your praise upon me

And a generous man's hand serves him as both hand and tongue.

And the generous hand has both hand and tongue

لَولا كِرامُ الناس أَنَّهُمُ هُمُ

لَولا كِرامُ الناس أَنَّهُمُ هُمُ

ما كانَ يوجَدُ فَوقَها إِنسانُ

ما كانَ يوجَدُ فَوقَها إِنسانُ

Were it not for noble people being who they are,

If not for people's generosity that they

no human being would be found upon the earth.

No human would exist above them

وَالمانِعونَ اِستُودِعوا نِعماً لَهُم

وَالمانِعونَ اِستُودِعوا نِعماً لَهُم

وَلِغَيرِهِم فَبِمَنعِهِم قَد خانوا

وَلِغَيرِهِم فَبِمَنعِهِم قَد خانوا

And those who withhold were entrusted with blessings for themselves

The misers were entrusted with bounties for them

and for others; thus, by withholding them, they have betrayed the trust.

And for others, so by their miserliness they betrayed

في كُلِّ خَلقٍ قَد تَصَرَّفَ فَضلُهُ

في كُلِّ خَلقٍ قَد تَصَرَّفَ فَضلُهُ

وَالخَلقُ في التَصريفِ فَهوَ عِيانُ

وَالخَلقُ في التَصريفِ فَهوَ عِيانُ

His bounty has been at work in every creature;

In every creature His bounty acted

and creation is under its sway, so it is plain to see.

And creation in acting is evident

سُدتَ الخَلائِقَ في البَسيطَةِ كُلِّها

سُدتَ الخَلائِقَ في البَسيطَةِ كُلِّها

فَلَكَ الخَلائِقُ كُلُّها غِلمانُ

فَلَكَ الخَلائِقُ كُلُّها غِلمانُ

You have become master of creation throughout the whole earth;

You encompassed all creatures in the whole expanse

so all creatures are your servant boys.

So to you all creatures are servants
