شَرِبتُI drank فأذكىand so stoked الشُربُdrinking نارَthe fire of عَنائيmy suffering
شَرِبتُ فأذكى الشُربُ نارَ عَنائي
دُموعيmy tears وَتَغريدُand the cooing of الحَمامِthe doves عَنائيmy suffering
دُموعي وَتَغريدُ الحَمامِ عَنائي
I drank, and drinking stoked the fire of my suffering.
I drank and the drink kindled the fire of my tribulation
My tears and the cooing of doves are my suffering.
My tears and the warbling of the dove are my tribulation
رَدَدتُI refuted عَلىto العُذّالِthe reproachers فيَّconcerning me اِجتِهادَهمtheir reasoned judgment
رَدَدتُ عَلى العُذّالِ فيَّ اِجتِهادَهم
وَفيand in مَذهَبِthe doctrine of العُشّاقِthe lovers قُلتُI spoke برائيwith my own opinion
وَفي مَذهَبِ العُشّاقِ قُلتُ برائي
I refuted the reproachers' judgment about me.
I responded to those who reproached me for my devotion
And in the lovers' doctrine, I voiced my own opinion.
And in the creed of lovers I declared my innocence
