أَشكوI complain إِلَيكَto you جُفوناًeyelids عَينُهاtheir eye أَبَداًforever
أَشكو إِلَيكَ جُفوناً عَينُها أَبَداً
عينٌa spring تُتَرجِمُexpresses عَنabout نيرانِfires أَحشائيmy entrails
عينٌ تُتَرجِمُ عَن نيرانِ أَحشائي
I complain to you of eyelids whose eye is forever
I complain to you of eyelids whose eyes are always
a spring that speaks of the fires deep within me.
An eye that translates the fires in my entrails
كَأَنَّas though إِنسانَهاits pupil وافىarrived بِمُعجِزَةٍwith a miracle
كَأَنَّ إِنسانَها وافى بِمُعجِزَةٍ
فَكانَand so it was مِنfrom أَدمُعيmy tears يَمشيwalking عَلىon الماءِthe water
فَكانَ مِن أَدمُعي يَمشي عَلى الماءِ
As though its pupil had come bearing a miracle,
As if its person has come with a miracle
and so it walked on the water of my tears.
And from my tears walked upon the water
