فَيَبخَلُ عَن عَيني بِمَسِّ تُرابِ
He lightens his tread when I walk behind him,
He lightens his tread as I walk behind him
So he begrudges my eye the touch of dust.
Yet denies my eyes the touch of dust from his feet

He refused reproach, though he is the fire between my ribs,
He refuses reproach, though it burns within me
And the stingiest of creatures is one who begrudges torment.
No miser more sparing of torment could be
