أَتَطمَعُDo you hope أَنto تُسالِمَنيmake peace with me وَقَلبيwhile my heart
أَتَطمَعُ أَن تُسالِمَني وَقَلبي
بِعِلمِكَas you know مِنكَby you مَكلومُwounded النَواحيthe sides
بِعِلمِكَ مِنكَ مَكلومُ النَواحي
Do you hope to make peace with me, while my heart—
Do you hope to make peace with me, while my heart
as you well know—is filled with you in every corner?
Is, as you know, wounded by you on every side,
وَماand not سَكَنَتceased رِماحُكَyour spears مِنfrom طِعانيpiercing me
وَما سَكَنَت رِماحُكَ مِن طِعاني
وَلاnor جَفَّتdried سُيوفُكَyour swords مِنfrom جِراحيmy wounds
وَلا جَفَّت سُيوفُكَ مِن جِراحي
Your spears have never ceased their thrusting into me,
And your spears have not ceased piercing me,
nor have your swords dried of the blood from my wounds.
Nor have your swords dried of the blood from my wounds?
