أَتَحسَبُنيdo you think me بَعدَafter السُلُوِّforgetting one's love مُتَيَّماًlovesick
وَأَنَّand that ولوعيmy passion بِالغَرامِfor love ولوعيmy passion
Do you think me lovesick after I have moved on,
Do you think that after yearning I will despair,
And that my passion for love is still the same?
And that my passion for love remains the same?
فأَمّاso as for دُموعيmy tears فَهيَso they مِنهُمfrom them وَلَمand did not تَفِضflow
عَلَيهِمfor them وَلَكِنّيbut I طَرَدتُdrove away دُموعيmy tears
As for my tears, they come from them, and did not flow
My tears are shed for them but have not yet poured,
For them; rather, I drove my tears away.
I held my tears back and did not let them rain.
وَأَمّاand as for زَفيريmy sigh فَهوَso it أَحرَقَburned up ذِكرَهُمthe memory of them
وَأَخرَجَهُمand drove them out عَنfrom دارِهِمtheir home بِضُلوعيwithin my ribs
And as for my sigh, it burned away their memory
My sighs have set their memory aflame,
And drove them from their home within my ribs.
And drove them out from their abode in my chest.
