كَماjust as أَنَّthat أَعراضَreputations اللِئامِthe base رِقابُnecks
كَما أَنَّ أَعراضَ اللِئامِ رِقابُ
And the tongues of reciters are nothing but keen swords,
Just as the reputations of the base are necks.
فَلاso do not تُنكِرواfind strange الأَنفاسَthe breaths وَهيَwhile they are دِماؤُهُمtheir blood
فَلا تُنكِروا الأَنفاسَ وَهيَ دِماؤُهُم

So do not find the breaths strange—they are their blood,
And do not find the pens strange, for they are spears.
