وَمِنand of عَجَبٍwonder أَنّيthat I أَحِنُّyearn إِلَيهِمُfor them
وَمِن عَجَبٍ أَنّي أَحِنُّ إِلَيهِمُ
وَأَسأَلُand I ask عَنهُمabout them مَنwhomever أَرىI see وَهُمwhile they مَعيwith me
وَأَسأَلُ عَنهُم مَن أَرى وَهُم مَعي
And how strange that I yearn for them;
And it is a wonder that I yearn for them,
and ask everyone I see about them, though they are with me.
And ask whomever I see about them, though they are with me.
وَتَطلُبُهُمand seeks them عَينيmy eye وَهُمwhile they فيin سَوادِهاits pupil
وَتَطلُبُهُم عَيني وَهُم في سَوادِها
وَيَشتاقُهُمand longs for them قَلبيmy heart وَهُمwhile they بَينَbetween أَضلُعيmy ribs
وَيَشتاقُهُم قَلبي وَهُم بَينَ أَضلُعي
My eye seeks them, though they are in its dark pupil;
And my eye seeks them, though they are within its pupil,
and my heart longs for them, though they are between my ribs.
And my heart longs for them, though they are between my ribs.
