Obstinate aversion carries him to extremes,

And obstinate conceit is at odds with love.
And denies passion with stubborn delusion
لاdo not تَقُلsay ليto me أَقوالُهُhis words طَيِّباتٌkind
إِنَّindeed أَقوالَهُhis words شُهودُwitnesses الزورِfalsehood
Do not tell me his words are kind;
Do not tell me his words are good
Indeed, his words are false witnesses.
His words are false witnesses
فَعَلىfor upon الفِعلِaction مِسحَةٌa tinge مِنof ظَلامٍdarkness
وَعَلىand upon القَولِspeech مِسحَةٌa tinge مِنof نورِlight
For action bears a tinge of darkness,
So actions have a touch of darkness
And speech bears a tinge of light.
And words have a touch of light
