صَبراً عَلى نَكَدِ الحَبيبِ وَمَطلِهِ
فَإِذاfor when العِذارُthe cheek hair أَتىappears أَتاكَcomes to you بِشَغلِهِwith its cares
فَإِذا العِذارُ أَتى أَتاكَ بِشَغلِهِ
Be patient with the beloved’s vexations and delays.
Patience over the cruelty of the beloved and his delay
For when cheek hair appears, it brings you its own cares.
For when the excuses come, they come with his business

Ringlets of hair curl into circles, as though they were
Locks of hair whirl as if they are
the courier’s rings, in which his dismissal clatters.
The rings of mail with the clinking of his isolation
ياO مَنone who يُوَفّيpays in full المُحسِنينَthose who do good أُجورَهُمtheir rewards

وَيَزيدُهم مِن فَضلِهِ في فَضلِهِ
O one who pays those who do good their rewards in full,
O He who rewards the benefactors their rewards
and, in his generosity, gives them more from his bounty:
And gives them increase of His bounty from His bounty
إِنif يمكُرِdevise الأَعداءُthe enemies مَكراًa scheme سَيِّئاًevil
إِن يمكُرِ الأَعداءُ مَكراً سَيِّئاً

فَالوَعدُ حَقٌّ أَن يَحيقَ بِأَهلِهِ
If enemies devise an evil scheme,
If the enemies scheme an evil scheme
then the promise is true: it will recoil upon its perpetrators.
Then the promise is true that it will overcome its people
