وَإِذاand when فَتىًa young man أَسدىbestowed يَداًa kindness (a helping hand) لِيَon me مَرَّةًonce
وَإِذا فَتىً أَسدى يَداً لِيَ مَرَّةً
مَلَأَتfilled يَدَيهِhis two hands فيin الثَوابِrecompense بِهاfor it يَديmy hand
مَلَأَت يَدَيهِ في الثَوابِ بِها يَدي
And when a young man does me a kindness once,
When a young man lends me a hand once,
My hand fills both his hands in recompense for it.
I fill his hands in reward many times over.
أَجزيI repay بِواحِدَةٍfor one kindness أُلوفاًthousands مِثلَهاlike it
أَجزي بِواحِدَةٍ أُلوفاً مِثلَها
وَأَحوزُand I gain بِالتَكريرِthrough repetition فِعلَthe deed of المُبتَديthe initiator (first giver)
وَأَحوزُ بِالتَكريرِ فِعلَ المُبتَدي
I repay one kindness with thousands like it,
I repay one with thousands like it,
And through repetition, I make the first giver’s deed my own.
And gain by repetition the deed of the first doer.
