وَما كانَ فَضلُ الزُهدِ في العَيشِ عَن غِنىَ

يُقاسُ بِفَضلِ الزُهدِ في العَيشِ عَن فَقرِ

يُقاسُ بِفَضلِ الزُهدِ في العَيشِ عَن فَقرِ

And the merit of renouncing life's pleasures while wealthy is not

The excess of asceticism in life over wealth

comparable to the merit of renouncing them while poor.

Cannot be compared to the excess of asceticism in life over poverty

وَما هَذِهِ الأَيّامُ قَصيرَةٌ

وَما هَذِهِ الأَيّامُ قَصيرَةٌ

وَلَكِنَّها لَيسَت بِزادٍ إِلى القَبرِ

وَلَكِنَّها لَيسَت بِزادٍ إِلى القَبرِ

And these days are not short,

Nor are these days short

but they are no provision for the grave.

But they are no provision for the grave
