وَما نافِعي إِلّا الَّتي لَو بَلَغتَها

وَما نافِعي إِلّا الَّتي لَو بَلَغتَها

بَلَغتُ مِنَ الأَيّامِ ما أَتَمَنّاهُ

بَلَغتُ مِنَ الأَيّامِ ما أَتَمَنّاهُ

And nothing benefits me but that which, if you attained it,

My worth is only what I have achieved

I would gain from the days what I desire.

If I attained my hopes for my days

هُنالِكَ لَم يَزحَم بَخيلٌ بِمَنكِبي

هُنالِكَ لَم يَزحَم بَخيلٌ بِمَنكِبي

لِأَنّي عَلَيهِ ما بَخِلتُ بِدُنياهُ

لِأَنّي عَلَيهِ ما بَخِلتُ بِدُنياهُ

There, no miser would jostle against my shoulder,

Then no miser jostled with me

for I have not begrudged him his world.

For I was not miserly with his world
