وَبَعدَ هَذا وَقَبلَ ذاكَ فَلا

أَصابَهُم سَيِّئاتُ ما عَمِلوا

And after this—and before that—may no

evil consequences of what they wrought befall them.

وَلَيسَ لي في سِواهُمُ أَمَلٌ

وَلَيسَ لي في سِواهُمُ أَمَلٌ

وَلَيسَ لي في سِواهُمُ أَجَلُ

وَلَيسَ لي في سِواهُمُ أَجَلُ

And in none but them have I any hope;

And I have no hope in anyone but them.

nor, save among them, have I any span of life.

And I have no allotted lifespan apart from them.

ما عَدَلَ الحَظُّ عِندَ قِسمَتِهِ

ما عَدَلَ الحَظُّ عِندَ قِسمَتِهِ

وَلا هُمُ عِندَ قِسمَةٍ عَدَلوا

وَلا هُمُ عِندَ قِسمَةٍ عَدَلوا

Fortune dealt unjustly when it apportioned its shares,

Fortune was not just in its apportionment,

nor did they, when dividing, deal justly.

nor were they just when apportioning.
