بَسَطتُI set forth لِعاشِقيfor lovers of الأَتراكِthe Turks عُذراًan excuse
فَلَستُso I am not لَهُمfor them عَذولاًa reproacher بَلrather عَذيراone who excuses
I have set forth an excuse for the lovers of Turks;
I made excuses for my passionate Turks
So I do not reproach them; rather, I excuse them.
I'm not unforgiving, but forgiving
وَيُدميand he bloodies البَطنَthe belly إِنif أَضحىhe is صَغيراًyoung
وَيَحميand he protects الظَهرَthe back إِنif أَمسىhe has become كَبيراgrown
And he bloodies the belly if he is young,
It fills the belly if it becomes small
And protects the back if he is grown.
And it protects the back if it becomes big
وَيَبذُلُand he gives freely يَومَon the day تَلبَسُهُyou clothe him in حَديداًiron
وَيَمنَعُand he withholds يَومَon the day تَلبَسُهُyou clothe him in حَريراsilk
And he gives freely on the day you clothe him in iron,
It gives on the day it wears iron
And withholds on the day you clothe him in silk.
And prevents on the day it wears silk
وَيُسمِعُهُand he makes him hear إِذاwhen دَخَلاthe two enter بُغماًa gazelle's cry
وَيُسمِعُهُand he makes him hear إِذاwhen خَرَجاthe two go out زَئيراa roar
And he lets him hear a gazelle's cry when the two enter,
It listens when they enter depressed
And lets him hear a roar when the two go out.
And it listens when they exit screaming
يُرَبّيهِhe raises him عَلىfor الغَرَضَينِthe two purposes فَاِفهَمso understand
فَإِنّيfor I لاdo not أُكاشِفُكَreveal to you الضَميراthe hidden intent
He raises him for both purposes—understand!
It raises them on the two intentions, so understand
For I do not lay bare the hidden intent to you.
I do not reveal the conscience to you
فَإِنso if يَنشَطhe is vigorous يُنَكhe is fucked طِفلاًas a child غَريراًguileless
وَإِنand if يَعجِزhe is impotent يَنِكhe fucks شَيخاًan old man كَبيراaged
If he is vigorous, the guileless child is fucked;
If it is active, it bucks you a playful foal
And if he is impotent, the child fucks an aged man.
And if it is incapable, it bucks you an old man
تَقَشَّفَhe lived austerely حينَwhen ناكَهُمhe fucked them ظِباءًas gazelles
وَوَقتَand at the time of فُسوقِهِhis debauchery ناكَhe fucked الحَميراthe donkeys
He lived austerely when he fucked them as gazelles;
It peeled off when their she-camels mounted them
And in his debauchery he fucked the donkeys.
And timed its debauchery, the donkeys mounted it
وَأَقبَلَand came ظالِمٌa wrongdoer لاno بَلrather ظَلامٌdarkness
يَلومُhe blames البَدرَthe full moon أَنthat عَشِقَhe loved البُدوراthe full moons
And a wrongdoer came—no, rather, darkness—
And a wrongdoer came, no but darkness
Blaming the full moon for loving full moons.
Blaming the full moon for falling in love with the full moons
وَقُلتُand I spoke فَكُنتُso I was عَنهُon his behalf لَهُfor him وَكيلاan advocate
مَلِيّاًfully capable بِالَّذيin what يُمليhe dictates خَبيراwell versed
And I spoke, acting on his behalf as his advocate,
And I said, so I was its attorney for it
Fully capable and versed in what he dictates.
Dictating what the Expert dictates
يَلوطُhe commits sodomy بِهِwith him صَغيراًwhile young ثُمَّthen يَجفوhe shuns
إِذاwhen ماemphatic particle الدَهرُtime أَلبَسَهُclothed him in القَتيراgray hair
He sodomizes him while young, then shuns him
It plays with it young then ignores it
When time clothes him in gray hair.
When time makes it wear rags
فَذَرso abandon كُلَّall البِغاwhoring شَيخاًas an old man كَبيراaged
فَتَلقىthen you find عِندَهُwith him or it فَرَجاًrelief كَبيراgreat
So abandon all whoring when you are an aged man;
So let every hater be an old man
Then you will find great relief in that.
And find with it a wide relief
