إنَّماonly الدارُthe home قَبلُfirst بِالسُكّانِin the inhabitants
إنَّما الدارُ قَبلُ بِالسُكّانِ
ثُمَّthen بَعدَafter السُكّانِthe inhabitants بِالجيرانِin the neighbors
ثُمَّ بَعدَ السُكّانِ بِالجيرانِ
A home's worth lies first in its inhabitants,
The house is made by its dwellers
then, after its inhabitants, in its neighbors.
And after them by the neighbors
فَإِذاand when ماemphatic particle الأَرواحُthe souls شَرَّدَهاhas driven them away الحَتdeath (word continued on the next line)
فَإِذا ما الأَرواحُ شَرَّدَها الحَت
فُcompletion of 'death' (الحتف) فَماذاthen what يُرادُis wanted بِالأَبدانِwith the bodies
فُ فَماذا يُرادُ بِالأَبدانِ
And when death has driven the souls away,
So when the soul is evicted by fate
what use, then, are the bodies?
What then can bodies be waiting for?
