أَصبَحتُ أَرفَعُهُ حَمداً وَيَخفِضُني

أَصبَحتُ أَرفَعُهُ حَمداً وَيَخفِضُني

ذَمّاً وَأَمدَحُهُ طَوراً وَيَهجوني

ذَمّاً وَأَمدَحُهُ طَوراً وَيَهجوني

I have come to exalt him with praise, while he brings me low

I exalt Him with praise, yet He humbles me with blame

with censure; at times I praise him, while he lampoons me.

I laud Him at times, and at times He dispraises me
