ماضِياتٌ عَلى الدَمامِ دَوامي
هِيَthey فيin النَصرِvictory نَجدَةُaid الإِسلامِIslam
هِيَ في النَصرِ نَجدَةُ الإِسلامِ
Keen blades, bloodstained upon the ill-favored,
My glories over Dumat are lasting
They are Islam's aid in victory.
It, in victory, is Islam’s aid
فيin يَمينِthe right hand السُلطانِthe Sultan إِنif جَرَّدَتهاyou unsheathe them
في يَمينِ السُلطانِ إِن جَرَّدَتها
أَشهَتهاapparently 'resembled them' (spelling unclear) صَواعِقٌthunderbolts فيin غَمامِcloud
أَشهَتها صَواعِقٌ في غَمامِ
In the Sultan's right hand, if you unsheathe them,
If drawn in the sultan’s right hand
Thunderbolts within a cloud resemble them.
Its lightnings in clouds are displayed
تَنثُرُthey scatter الهامَthe heads كَالحُروفِlike the letters فَماand how أَشresemble— (first part of a split word)
تَنثُرُ الهامَ كَالحُروفِ فَما أَش
بَهَ(completes the split word 'resemble') هَذيthese السُيوفَthe swords بِالأَقلامِto the pens
بَهَ هَذي السُيوفَ بِالأَقلامِ
They scatter heads like letters—how like
It scatters the thoughts like letters, none
Pens these swords are!

فيin مَحاريبِprayer niches البيضِthe helmets صَلَّتthey prayed
في مَحاريبِ البيضِ صَلَّت
وَرُكوعُand the bowing الظُباof the blade-edges سُجودُthe prostration الهامِof the heads
وَرُكوعُ الظُبا سُجودُ الهامِ
They prayed in the prayer niches of helmets,
In the bay-colored shrines, it prayed
And the blade-edges' bowing is the heads' prostration.
