وَكَمand how often قُلتُI said حَقّاًtruly لَيتَنيwould that I كُنتُI was عِندَهُwith him
وَكَم قُلتُ حَقّاً لَيتَني كُنتُ عِندَهُ
وَلَمand did not أَتَفَوَّهI utter لَيتَهُwould that he لَيتَهُwould that he عِنديwith me
وَلَم أَتَفَوَّه لَيتَهُ لَيتَهُ عِندي
And how often I truly said, “Would that I were with him!”
How often have I said in truth, would that I were with him,
Yet I never uttered, “Would that he—would that he were with me!”
And have not uttered, would that he, would that he were with me.
