دَعونيlet me وَتَوديعَand bidding farewell to الحَبيبِthe beloved بِنَظرَةٍwith a glance
دَعوني وَتَوديعَ الحَبيبِ بِنَظرَةٍ
يُمَتِّعُنيhe grants me enjoyment مِنهاfrom it مَتاعاًenjoyment إِلىuntil حينِa time
يُمَتِّعُني مِنها مَتاعاً إِلى حينِ
Let me bid the beloved farewell with a glance,
Let me bid farewell to my beloved with a glance
Through which he grants me pleasure for a while.
That will sustain me for a time
أُوَدِّعُهُI bid him farewell تَوديعَةَthe farewell of السَهمِthe arrow قَوسَهُits bow
أُوَدِّعُهُ تَوديعَةَ السَهمِ قَوسَهُ
مَدىthe span of الدَهرِall time يُقصينيhe keeps me distant وَكَاللَمحِand like a flash يُدنينيhe draws me near
مَدى الدَهرِ يُقصيني وَكَاللَمحِ يُدنيني
I bid him farewell as an arrow bids farewell to its bow;
I bid him goodbye like an arrow its bow
He keeps me distant forever, yet draws me near in a flash.
He sends me far, yet pulls me near in a flash
