Draw in your reins; this is the journey’s end.
Curb your steed, for this is the journey's end,
And stretch out your fingers; this is where the fruit is gathered.
And stretch out your hand, for these are the fruits to pick.

Behold, you are above the heaven of noble deeds; so add
Behold, you are above the heavens of honor, so increase
Grace without reminders of favor, purity without taint.
Grace without obligation, purity without turmoil.

And the radiance of acceptance has appeared to you in
For you the dawn of acceptance has shown itself
Three things: the face, the daybreak, and the journey.
In the three faces, the morning, and the journey.

Rise, taking the lead with praise that he may savor—
Arise, preceding with praise well-received,
What stirred all night in the mind of the predawn hour.
Whatever was tossing restlessly in the soul's thought by night.
اغرُبdepart فَمُذfor since كُنتَyou have been لاnot تَأتيyou bring بِمُغرِبَةٍwith a wondrous tale
هَلhave جِئتَهُyou come to him عَنabout سِوىanything other than نُعماهُhis bounty بِالخَبَرِwith news
Depart, since you bring no wondrous tale;
Stranger! Since you have never come with an unfamiliarity,
Have you brought him news of anything but his bounty?
Have you come with news except good things about him?
الجودُgenerosity أَمدَحُmore expressive in praise مِمَّنthan anyone who قامَrose يَمدَحُهُpraises him
وَالناسُand people ماnot سَمِعواthey heard إِلّاexcept مِنَfrom النَظَرِsight
Generosity praises him better than anyone who rises to praise him,
Generosity I praise more than one who stands praising it,
And people have heard only through sight.
While people have heard nothing but from observation.

And do not say, as you close the poem in his praise,
And do not say, when the poem ends, that you praise him:
“Take it”; say, “Do not fault it for this faltering.”
Take it, and say "Do not blame it for this limitation."
